On 10 October 2011 the exhibition of archival documents "Ivo Andrić in Diplomacy" was opened in the Archives of Yugoslavia. This year two important jubilees related to Ivo Andrić are celebrated – 50th anniversary of his being awarded the Nobel Prize and 100 years since he published his first literary work. The exhibition was presented by Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia, and Predrag Marković, Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, who also officially opened the exhibition.
Among other things Milošević said that Andrić was not only a great name in our literature and the literature of the world, but also a figure in international political life and diplomatic history, and that the aim of the exhibition was to restore to Andrić the writer a part of his subdued and less known biography, the one of Andrić the diplomat.
Marković pointed out that Andrić in his text on diplomacy and diplomats discussed the extent to which diplomacy was practice and at what point it turned into ethics, and added that Andrić was highly critical of diplomacy. According to his words, Andrić, who lived in ten cities and eight countries, was very important for the history of Serbia and Yugoslavia. 
Exhibition documents and photographs show Ivo Andrić’s progress in diplomacy from his first duty in Vatican, where in 1920 he was appointed Vice-Consul 3rd Class. Over time he was transferred and referred to his next positions in Bucharest, Trieste, Graz, Belgrade, Marseille, Paris, Madrid, Brussels, Geneva, Belgrade and Berlin, and also promoted along the way, climbing the diplomatic ladder to reach the position of Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. His career ended in 1941, when he was Minister Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Envoy to Berlin. He was retired that same year by the decision of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia’s Council of Ministers.
In addition to documents, the visitors of the exhibition would have the opportunity to see the diplomatic uniform of Ivo Andrić as Envoy to Berlin, which was loaned for this exhibition from the Belgrade City Museum. 
The catalogue for the exhibition features the introductory text by Miladin Milošević. The authors of the exhibition are Dušan Jončić and Jelena Đurišić, historian-archivists in the Archives of Yugoslavia.
The exhibition opening was attended by more than 300 guests, among them the State Secretary of the Republic of Serbia Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkić, numerous representatives of the diplomatic corps (Ambassadors of Mexico, Great Britain, Algeria, Austria), Princess Jelisaveta Karađorđević, scholars from institutes and faculties, colleagues from the archives all over Serbia and from the Republic of Srpska, as well as many other public, cultural and political figures. 
The exhibition will be open every weekday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until 31 December 2011.

PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE OPENING IN BELGRADE

On 14 December 2012 the exhibition of the Archives of Yugoslavia Ivo Andrić in Diplomacy, authored by Dušan Jončić and Jelena Đurišić, was opened in the Historical Archives of Kikinda. Dušan Jončić presented the exhibition which was officially opened by Milan Srdić, director of the Historical Archives of Kikinda. In the presence of numerous guests and media from the city of Kikinda, Milan Srdić and Dušan Jončić gave statements to the media.

The Archives of Yugoslavia exhibition Ivo Andrić in Diplomacy, organised by the Historical Archives of Vranje "31 January", opened in the Gallery of the National Museum in Vranje on 4 May 2012. The guest exhibition is part of celebrating the 50th anniversary of work of the Historical Archives of Vranje "31 January". The exhibition was officially opened by Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia, who underlined that ".... Andrić was not only a great name of our literature and literature of the world, but also a figure in international political life and diplomatic history".
