Yugoslavia came into being on December 1, 1918, with the proclamation of the unification of the South Slav peoples in a common state: The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovens (which in 1929 was renamed the Kingdom of Yugoslavia).

On the occesion of celebration the creation of Yugoslavia, the Archives of Yugoslavia, in cooperation with The Archves of Serbia, State Archives of Montenegro and Military Historical Institute, opened for the public an exibition of documents, named "Yugoslavia 1918-1998", which represent the continuity of the Yugoslav state from 1918 up to nowdays.
