2017 - "Kingdom of Yugoslavia in International Danube Commission 1920-1940"

Marking the 67th Anniversary of the Foundation of the State Archives of FNRY, the Archives of Yugoslavia prepared the exhibition of archival documents Kingdom of Yugoslavia in International Danube Commission 1920-1940 that was opened in the exhibition hall of the Archives of Yugoslavia on February 1, 2017. Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia Miladin Milošević talked about the exhibition as well as Milan Gulić research associate at the Institute for Contemporary History and the author of the exhibition Jelena Đurišić.

Novica Antić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia opened the exhibition. Various quests were present at the exhibition as well as representatives of diplomatic corps in the Republic of Serbia and individuals from scientific cultural and public life.

The exhibition Kingdom of Yugoslavia in International Danube Commission 1920-1940 through over 130 documents and photographs presents period when the Kingdom of Serbs Croats and Slovenes/Yugoslavia was esteemed member of this international organization. Documents witness the work of the Permanent Delegation of Serbs Croats and Slovenes in the Commission as well as the work of commission itself. The exhibition is thematically divided into seven chapters: Danube after the First World War, International Danube Commission, Permanent Delegation of the SCS/Yugoslavia, Commission for the Regime of Danube Waters, Đerdap Administration, Three Percent Đerdap Loan, Serbian Chanel and Locomotive Drive and German Reich and Disappearance of International Danube Commission. Documents in the first three chapters present the most important events dealing with position of Danube after the end of the Great War, meetings of International Danube commission, decisions of the Commission, the role of the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of SCS/Yugoslavia within this international organization. Delegates of the Kingdom of SCS/Yugoslavia in this international organization were: Mihailo Ristić (1920-1924), Miloš Mihailović (1925-1930 and 1932-1936) and Velizar Ninčić (1930-1932 and 1936-1940). Deputy delegates were Fran Vilfan (1920-1931) and Dušan Pantić (1931-1933). Through the chapters Commission for the Regime of Danube Waters, Đerdap Administration, Three Percent Đerdap Loan, Serbian Chanel and Locomotive Drive we get to know concrete problems and questions referring to the work of the Commission and the method of their solving. The last chapter German Reich and Disappearance of International Danube Commission present the course of events that led up to the thirties of the twentieth century when Germany considering Danube "river flow of the future" strongly and more aggressively had taken over complete Danube water flow and absolute domination over Danube till 1944.

The exhibition will be opened till March 31, 2017 every working day from 10: 00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
