On the occasion of marking 65 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Morocco, and part of denoting "Year of Serbia in Morocco and the Year of Morocco in Serbia", an exhibition of archival documents was organized, being the result of the cooperation among the Archives of Yugoslavia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Kingdom of Morocco and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in the Republic of Serbia.
Danijela Vanušić, Assistant Minister for Cultural Heritage and Digitialization in the Ministry of Culture and Information opened the exhibition.
The exhibition presents the development of diplomatic relations between the official Belgrade and Rabat in the period from 1957 to 2022 and is divided into five large units: diplomatic relations, letters from the highest officials of Yugoslavia and Morocco, summit meetings, bilateral agreements signed between the two countries and cooperation of two countries. The first unit "Diplomatic Relations" presents documents and photographs of the recognition of Morocco by Yugoslavia in 1956 and the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1957; diplomatic representatives of FNR/SFR/FR Yugoslavia, the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, and the Republic of Serbia. The second unit of the exhibition presents "Letters of the Highest Officials of Yugoslavia and Morocco" showing messages and letters exchanged between Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito and Moroccan kings Mohammed V and Hassan II in the period from 1960 to 1974. The third unit " Summit Meetings " show documentation about the visit of Josip Broz Tito, President of the FPRY to the Kingdom of Morocco in the period from April 1 to 6, 1961 to the delegations of the Kingdom of Morocco at the Conferences of Nonaligned Countries in Belgrade, the first one in 1961 and the ninth one in 1989, as well as two jubilees: the fiftieth anniversary of the First Conference in 2011 and the Additional commemorative meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on the 60th anniversary of its founding in 2021. The fourth unit "Cooperation" presents materials testifying to Yugoslavia's aid to Morocco after the devastating earthquake in 1960 and provided accommodation for a group of young people in Yugoslavia for their recovery; economic, cultural, and educational cooperation, and sports cooperation among Yugoslavia and Serbia and Morocco.
The exhibition is open to the public from March 15 to April 10, 2022, on the premises of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat. The opening of the exhibition in Belgrade in the Archives of Yugoslavia is planned for the fall of 2022.
