On the occasion of 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Yugoslavia and Pakistan, the Archives of Yugoslavia prepared the exhibition of documents Belgrade-Islamabad: 70 years of diplomatic Relations. This exhibition is a product of mutual cooperation of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Belgrade and Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and is one of manifestations that will mark this jubilee. At the opening ceremony on August 10, 2018 at the presence of the guests, representative of diplomatic corps in the Republic of Serbia, representatives from cultural and scientific public after striking up of the national anthem of both countries, the Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia Dr. Milan Terzić greeted the quests. H.E. Syed Adil Gilani Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Serbia greeted the guests as well and Mrs. Tamara Rastovac-Sijamašvili Deputy of the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia greeted the guests in the name of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia. After that, the exhibitor was officially opened and mister Ambassador donated one of the football balls made in Pakistan for the world championship in football to the director of the Archives of Yugoslavia..

 

Jelena Djurišić prepared the exhibition consisting of 150 documents and photos that is accompanied by catalogues both in English and Serbian language. Exhibited documents are about the first establishment of the diplomatic contacts between two countries and exchange of the visits of their leaders. Documents indicate that Yugoslavia and Pakistan had similar approach to the main international problems and similar attitude regarding shaping of the future character of the Nonaligned Movement. After break off of the Yugoslav country, the relations between two countries were reduced to the symbolic level. Recently both countries have expressed interest to improve all types of political, economic and cultural cooperation.

 

Documents and photographs presented at the exhibitions belong to the fonds and collections of the Archives of Yugoslavia, Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Museum of Yugoslavia.

 

The exhibition will be opened to August 31, 2018, every working day (Monday-Friday) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p. m.
