Belgrade Museum Night 2009

2009-05-16 Category: Events in the Archives

This year, too, the Archives of Yugoslavia opened its gates to numerous visitors who attended the Museum Night. Between 18 and 02 on May 16-17, 2009, about 600 people visited the Archives. Numerous museum and gallery lovers went out on that warm and beautiful night. Columns of young people went from one gallery to another within the F Zone, in which the Archives  of Yugoslavia is situated.

The Historical Maps of Yugoslavia attracted the greatest interest. Older visitors spent most of their time observing the documents from the exhibition Yugoslavia in international relations 1918–1992. Many visitors who entered the Archives building for the very first time during the Belgrade Museum Night wanted to hear something about the history of the building, work of the Archives and its cultural heritage. Watching historical films and listening to selected music, our guests could expand their knowledge about the history of this region and spend great moments socializing and talking to Archives employees.

The popularity of the Museum Night has increased and its vast offer has attracted the attention and interest of people. This year, half a million people in Serbia participated in this event. The Archives of Yugoslavia, historical archive of a country that no longer exists, can really offer authentic and attractive pieces from its collections, which properly present its holdings and offer the visitors a night to remember.

In Europe and in our country, this was the night of museums and archives, but also the night of their importance in the modern society and life of modern people, who are deprived of historic memories and perspective.
