The Visit of the Representatives of the Maryland State Archives and the Jefferson Institute to the Archives of Yugoslavia

The Archives of Yugoslavia was visited by Edward C. Papenfusen, State Archivist in the Maryland State Archives, Aakonom Presnall, Director of the Belgrade Office of the Jefferson Institute and Biljana Presnall, also from the Jefferson Institute. Edward Papenfusen had expressed a wish to visit the Archives of Yugoslavia and learn about its history, its competencies and activities. In his discussion with the Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia Miladin Milošević, Mr Papenfusen expressed interest in conducting research on Yugoslav emigration into the United States between the two world wars – a topic he had already studied in the United States. He was acquainted with the archives as well as possibilities of researching the topic of Yugoslav emigration to the United States. He expressed readiness on the part of the Maryland State Archives to cooperate with the Archives of Yugoslavia in the areas of document publication, joint exhibition organisation, contributions to the journal The Archives and the topic of Yugoslav-US relations. According to Mr Milošević, the Archives of Yugoslavia is willing to engage in this form of cooperation.
