During the visit of the National Librarian of the National Library of South Africa, Mr John Tsebe, to the National Library of Serbia, which had the purpose of establishing cooperation between the two national libraries, Mr Tsebe also visited the Archives of Yugoslavia together with the Acting Director General of the National Library of Serbia, Dejan Ristić, on 24 August 2012.
Mr John Tsebe, Chairperson of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries of the world and Director of the National Library of South Africa, was informed of the activities of the Archives of Yugoslavia and viewed with great interest the exhibition of archival documents “Jovan Dučić in Diplomacy”.
The visitor was presented with several publications of the Archives of Yugoslavia, including the catalogues of exhibitions on Ivo Andrić and Jovan Dučić.
The purpose of Mr Tsebe’s visit to the Archives was, as earlier arranged, to grant his previously expressed wish to see the documents on the African National Congress. Since the National Library of South Africa plans to prepare a monograph on the ANC, the Archive presented the high level guest with copies of the documents from the Archives fonds mentioning the ANC, and Mr Tsebe expressed his gratitude for such a gesture. The guest from South Africa met with Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives, and Lilijana Ratković-Trifunović, Assistant Director.
