Visit of Fourth-Grade Students from “Jovan Sterija Popović” Elementary School in New Belgrade to the Archives of Yugoslavia

In November (5–7 and 19–20), the Archives of Yugoslavia were visited by students from five fourth-grade classes of the “Jovan Sterija Popović” Elementary School in New Belgrade, accompanied by their teachers: Svetlana Veselić, Olivera Savić Koljaja, Ljiljana Inđić, Dragana Bogdanović, and Marija Kalezić Žikić.

The students and their teachers were welcomed at the Archives of Yugoslavia by Dragan Teodosić, Head of the Department for the Publication of Archival Materials and Inter-Archive Cooperation; Marko Davidović, archivist; Milica Basta, Secretary of the Archives; Milena Babović Šili,Legal and HR Analyst; as well as many other colleagues. The Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia, Dr. Milan Terzić, also greeted the students.

During their stay, the students learned about the brief development of archives worldwide, the history and work of the Archives of Yugoslavia, and the Archives’ building. They visited the conservation and restoration laboratory (introduced by Svetlana Ivović Perović, Senior Conservator, and Stanojka Jegdić, Senior Conservator), the reading room (where Ivana Božović, Senior Archivist, presented its history and work and showed examples of materials, giving the students a chance to learn how research is conducted), one of the storage depots (where Milan Đokić and Žarko Mitrović, Senior Archival Assistants, demonstrated the process of ordering, retrieving, and returning materials), the digitization department (introduced by Marko Davidović), the library (guided by Milica Borojević, archivist and librarian), and the exhibitions “Ivo Andrić in Diplomacy” and “Constitutions of Yugoslavia 1921–1974.”
