Milan Terzić was born in Podgorica on November 5, 1960 where he completed primary school and graduated from high school. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, at the Department of History. He obtained his Master degreed in 1986 in the field of military diplomacy Mission of Vladimir Velebit 1943-1945 and afterwards he obtained doctoral degree in 2004 , doctoral dissertation Yugoslavia Seen by the Kingdom Government and the Regency 1941-1945. (Propaganda and Reality).
In the period from April 1989 to February 1996 he worked in the Archives of Josip Broz Tito and the Office of the President of the Republic that are today part of the Archives of Yugoslavia. From 1996 he worked in the Military History Institute. After integration of Military History Institute and Institute of War Skills in 2006 he worked in the new formed Institute for Strategic Researches of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia at the position of Head of the Department for Military History.
He conducted the Institute project for strategic research History of Serbian and Yugoslav Army in the 19th and 20th century. In the period from 2006-2012, Milan Terzić was editor in chief of the journal Vojnoistorijski glasnik , scientific journal of the Military History Institute and present Institute for Strategic Researches. He participated in organization of ten scientific conferences. He reviewed several monographies and books of collected papers. He is editor of monothematic issue of collected papers The First World War – 90 Years Later and Serbian (Yugoslav) – Greek Relations in the First Half of the 20th Century. He is the member of the commission for defending doctoral dissertations from the field of history at the Faculty of Philosophy. During his research work he published three monographs, two books of collected papers and 72 scientific papers. He has a title of scientific advisor.
He is interested in research of: period of the Second World War (position of Yugoslavia, international factor influence, interior conflicts, partisan’s military diplomacy, Cetnik’s movement of General Draza Mihailovic, Allied missions, activity of Josip Broz Tito and etc.), as well as in after war period (position of Yugoslavia in “cold war “, question of cultural politics, building of Tito’s cult, Tito’s manner of work and making decisions, Yugoslav army and etc.)
By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia no. 119-6593/2017 of July 20, 2017, Dr. Milan Terzić was appointed Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia.
The Government of the Republic of Serbia on its meeting held on July 29, 2021. passed the Decision (24 no:119-709/2021) on appointment Dr. Milan Terzić Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia on the period of four years
